Hello!👋
My name is Sameeha and I’m currently a university student in Alberta, Canada. I’ve had the opportunity to work with kids for several years now, and like many teachers and parents, I’ve noticed the troubling trend of children spending more and more time on their phones, tablets, and TVs.
As a lifelong bookworm, I’m confident that books offer a fantastic source of screen-free entertainment for kids. However, if your little bookworms are anything like I was growing up, they devour book after book and are still "so bored!" and "have nothing to do!" That’s why I created The Bored Bookworm—to give kids fun ways to immerse themselves in exciting novels long after they've turned the last page.
My blog focuses on middle grade novels because, when I look back at my childhood, these are the books I remember most fondly—the ones that influenced me the most. Middle grade books combine the wonder and imagination of childhood with deeper themes like friendship, grief, belonging, and identity. These stories not only captivate young readers but can also spark meaningful conversations about their beliefs and views of the world.
With each book review, I share a variety of activities that bring the story to life and give kids a more hands-on way to interact with the book's world. These activities are a great opportunity for kids to explore new hobbies and interests. Personally, my hobbies are such an integral part of who I am today, and they all have their roots in the crafts I enjoyed as a child.

My Rating System
All of the books I share on this blog are ones that I personally enjoy. My rating system is designed to reflect how meaningful and impactful I believe these books will be for kids.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Five stars means I believe the book demonstrates strong morals and addresses important themes.
⭐⭐⭐⭐- Four stars indicates that while the story is fun and engaging, the lessons or themes may be secondary to the narrative, or possibly even overshadowed by it.
⭐⭐⭐- Three stars means that while the book may still have some valuable lessons, there are themes or messages that could be potentially harmful.
As a general rule, I aim to be mindful of content that parents might hesitate to share with their children. I focus on choosing books that I believe offer positive morals and valuable lessons. However, I always include content warnings, so if you feel these books don’t align with your personal standards, please use discretion when sharing them with your kids. The activities associated with each book can always be adapted, allowing kids to enjoy them without the context of the novel itself.
